Kings Lynn Woodturners set the challenge to make a beer bottle. It didn’t really excite me but I gave it a go. The first one I made was from ash, spent a lot of time finishing it and very confident I had made a winner.
The day before the competition I received an email outlining the size and proportion, I was a little bit over so I had to make another one.
The only wood I had was a lovely bit of yew.
Both bottles were hollowed from the bottom and plugged with section further down the log.

Few cracks appeared in the yew bottle when I sanded. It didn’t win.
