Emma Cook – Tiny Turner

Really good demonstration at Kings Lynn Wood Turners. Emma showed how to make a hollow form type cup with a double sided lid. Emma applied a textured finish to the lid and painted it blue with vibrant acrylics, then dry-brushed one side. She never stopped talking, very entertaining and full of great ideas.

Her passion for design and form impressed me. I believe this quality is lacking in much wood turning, and I want a resource to learn more about design ideas.

Here is just a selection of the lovely things Emma brought along to show us. Some of it is not really my cup of tea but I do think it is very clever and different. I do admire her for challenging contemporary ideas about wood turning. I look forward to see what she comes up with in the future.

This is the piece Emma made on the night.
