This is the biggest thing I have ever turned! Had to build it up on the lathe two or three layers at a time then one final turn, it was bit scary.
Having made several segmented horns I challenged myself to see how big I could go.
Designed in Fusion I tried to make the horn as close to the idea tractrix curve. Supposedly this shape is the best for sound reproduction. Previously I have used an iPhone to play the music, this time I pulled apart a cheap Bluetooth rechargeable speaker to fit in the end.
The whole thing is made from old pine, it was lovely to turn and filled the workshop with a lovely pine smell.
The sound from the horn is really good, it needs finishing with a stand. The Tosh was very impressed.
