This is cut using the skew with the branches coming to a point at the end,

The branches on this tree are rounded, a series of beads.
That one last cut.
Everyone who has turned for a while will do that one last little cut only to be caught by the evil chisel catch fairy
Spade Handle
We were going to buy a new spade but the top handle and the steel bit looked in great condition so I made a new shaft out of mahogany.
Spinning top with a difference
American turner Matt Monaco said “if you can make a spinning top that has a captive ring and spins only using a skew you are doing well”. It is lot harder than it first looks.
Barley Twist Machine
The device was made for a barley twist competition, took me weeks to make, lots of prototyping and failures. It works great but it has been suggested its cheating.
